Daniel Zdanowski named next Walt Disney Elementary School Principal
Dear Gates Chili School Community,
I am pleased to announce Daniel Zdanowski as the next principal at Walt Disney Elementary School, pending Board of Education approval. Mr. Zdanowski will take over for Mrs. Elaine Damelio, who is retiring on June 30.
Mr. Zdanowski is currently serving as director of instruction in the Rush-Henrietta Central School District. Earlier this year, he served as interim principal at Leary Elementary in that district.
As part of the formal search process, there were more than 20 applicants. Each candidate interviewed with two committees comprised of Walt Disney teachers, staff and other district administrators. The district then hosted three finalists at Disney on Feb. 7-9 where the candidates visited classrooms and had the opportunity to participate in a meet and greet event with staff and families.
In addition to his duties as director of instruction, Mr. Zdanowski also serves as a K-12 Educational Consultant on curriculum integration, blended learning and strategic planning. Prior to his time at Rush-Henrietta, Mr. Zdanowski served as elementary assistant principal in Auburn. He holds a master’s degree in education from LeMoyne College, a certificate of advanced study in K-12 Educational Administration from Syracuse University, and he expects to complete his doctorate in K-12 Educational Administration and Decision Making at the University of Rochester this spring.
Thank you to the members of our school community who participated in this search process. We are excited about this next great chapter in Walt Disney’s history.
Go Spartans!
Christopher J. Dailey
Superintendent of Schools
