Comprehensive Long-Range Planning

Gates Chili Central School District is conducting a long-range planning and optimization study to ensure programs, people, and facilities continue to meet student needs over the next decade. This phase gathers information and community input and will result in data-informed options for consideration by the Board of Education.

Why now

Several factors are prompting a closer look at future needs:

  • Anticipated residential growth in the Town of Gates in the next three to five years
  • A state-mandated Building Condition Survey that will inform capital planning
  • Space constraints in elementary schools related to increased student supports and services
  • Regional capacity limits in some BOCES programs that may require growth of in-district options
  • Regional conversations about secondary start and end times; no schedule changes are presumed in this study

What the study examines

The study focuses on three connected areas:

  • Educational experiences: engaging, inclusive learning for all students
  • Organizational capacity: how people, programs, and systems work together
  • Financial sustainability: wise use of resources today and stability tomorrow

Who is facilitating

The district has partnered with Leadership Solutions Advisers (LSA), a team of experienced educators, to facilitate meetings, gather and analyze feedback and data, and support an Advisory Group that will review findings and discuss options.
