Mucino approved as assistant superintendent for instruction

The Gates Chili Central School District has appointed Sara Mucino as its next Assistant Superintendent for Instruction.

Mucino has served the Gates Chili community since 2012 and brings more than two decades of experience in a variety of roles, including intervention teacher and teacher leader at Paul Road Elementary School, assistant principal at Walt Disney Elementary School and director of elementary education.

Prior to her time at Gates Chili, she was also a special education teacher and a general education teacher in in Loudoun County Public Schools in Virginia, as well as a reading teacher in Greece CSD.

In her most recent role, Mucino has worked closely with principals and teacher leaders to strengthen instructional systems, build consistency across schools and ensure alignment to district priorities.
Her work has focused on improving Tier 1 instruction, supporting Multi-Tiered Systems of Support and advancing efforts to support positive outcomes for all students. Superintendent Dr. Mitchell Ball said Mucino’s leadership and experience made her a strong choice for the role.

“Sara brings a deep understanding of our district and a strong commitment to supporting students, staff and our school community,” Ball said. “Her ability to build alignment across systems and support leaders in moving this work forward will help us continue the strong momentum already underway across Gates Chili.”

Mucino’s experience as a systems leader, combined with her longstanding relationships across the district, positions her well to support instructional alignment and continuous improvement across grades PK–12.
